What I Made

You ever just have a Sunday evening when you just have to throw dinner together with whatever you have in the fridge? Yeah well we had 2 steaks, some eggs, bacon, turnips greens, condiments, and a few other odds and ends in ours last Sunday. And needless to say I was not in the mood to venture to the grocery store. So this my friends is what I made:

Broiled steaks, over greens with poached eggs. The best part? It was really simple, yet it looks like it wasn't. Even better part? It was so delicious we'll have it again sometime.

Feeling Royal

Over the weekend the hubs and I went to the movie "The Dilemma". If you have seen this or will see it pay attention to "the intervention" scene. The chair that Vince Vaughn sits in is to-die-for! Seriously. It had a royal blue silky fabric on it with a large bright floral pattern on it. If you have seen this chair on the web please share a link.

Days before I saw the chair I was finding myself drawn to royal blue items, are these all just fabulous? I swear if I were preggo, which I AM NOT ( I repeat I am not mom), I would be very tempted to make a modern nursery using the royal blue color.

Wouldn't these items make you feel royal too?

{Koi Collection Rug from Rugs USA}

How about these fabrics? I just love the use of the blues and greens.

I love this color, but I am pretty sure it would not fit with the look of the rest of our home. Or would it? {Sigh} Maybe I should hire a color consultant before I start any new rooms. Or better yet I should probably first finish the ones I have already started.

Won't You Be My Neighbor

I love the beach and the entire Florida panhandle, so I am all about bringing more people here to vacation and even be my full time neighbors! This week we have a rare work live space at Gulf Place in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

This home is a foreclosure and listed at $319,000. You can run your business out of the retail space on the main level and have a full size townhouse above your business!

{Have your business and home be across the street from beach access!}

This home is over 2700 square feet and comes with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. This is a corner unit directly across from the amphitheater area in Gulf Place.

One of the best features of this home is its location! The subdivision is across the street from public beaches with restaurants and shopping throughout Gulf Place.

Check out more pictures and features of this home and call the agent that will get the deal done for you! Bev Dudley lives by her motto of "if it goes to contract it will close!"

So won't you be my neighbor,

Baby It's Cold Outside

This past month has had me wishing Spring would just come already! With those warmer days I would need to add to my dress collection. I wanted to introduce you all to the Judith March line. It is a clothing line that is all designed and made just the other side of the highway from me. You can find Judith March in boutiques along 30A and Sandestin area. For the best selection try DejaVu in Seaside or Peir Park, the owner owns both the clothing line and boutiques from my understanding.

Here are a few beauties I must have ASAP:

A black and white chevron with ruffles dress, pair with red heels and gold and red accessories. I'd be dressed for a night of fun on the town!

The coral chevron dress paired with natural colored heels and turquoise accessories— would be the perfect look for spring!

The navy dress with the orange sash is from the fall line but it does not keep me from lusting after it. In fact if I could only get 1 of these 3 I would choose this one. I already have the perfect heels to pair with it, and game day accessories for supporting my Auburn Tigers.

Come on spring!

Ottoman Envy

With the new arrangement of furniture it has become apparent to me I have major ottoman envy. I want some thing to be in front of our couch. Some where to properly place my feet comfortably. Problem is though our couch sits low to the ground so it will be hard to find one low, second problem is I am very picky.

Have you seen this lovely throughout blog land yet from Thirteenth & South? And don't you just love the room that the ottoman lives in too!

Or did you even see this beauty on One Kings Lane last weekend?

Call me crazy but I have some how convinced the hubs we should build and upholster our own! I promise to post the process as soon as this vision becomes a reality. Promise.

The Garage is Done

The garage is done, well almost. But her doors are now installed and working with door openers!

This project got finished up the week of Christmas so I forgot to post about it with all of the chaos we know as Christmas/New Years/Birthday.

I guess this spring we'll get the trim all painted to spruce it up a bit. I still can't decide if I should add some color to the doors.

Transforming the Living Room

With the recent purchase of living room chairs over my birthday, the living room was screaming for it to be rearranged. Let preface this by saying I think our house was built to be more a vacation home rather than a full time living home as the common areas are rather small and the bedrooms are larger than average.

The room of course was bare when we moved in. But has so much potential.

The staircase before we moved in was rather eye catching.

A clear path to and from the front door that becomes narrow with furniture in the room.

We added some items we brought from California.

And even purchased a new couch for the space since we sold ours before the move cross country.

With the addition of the chairs it creates a more inviting area for conversation now I believe.

I think we need an upholstered bench to use as an ottoman. I have ottoman envy, but there will be a full post on that coming up soon.

I know I need something above the couch. I think a large mirror or a grouping of some sorts would be nice. I will not tackle this though until I find a piece I am in love with that has to be hung on a wall.

No the pink velvet on the chairs is not growing on me. But I currently have too many projects going to begin the task of reupholstering them just yet. I'll post soon on the process of it though. Promise.

Another view of the room currently.

She is a work in progress, like all of the rooms with our recent move. I think getting the house just like I want it will take a few years.

Birthday Recap

So as many of you know I turned 30 this year. The event turned into a weekend event full of celebrations, shooting, and antiquing. It was a birthday to remember!

The birthday started off with breakfast at my favorite place, Lair's Club on 30A. Our server Andrea surprised me with ice cream and chocolate syrup as a dessert to breakfast!

That night we all joined together to celebrate at Stinky's Fish Camp. I felt so loved being surrounded by family and friends. I can't express to them all how much it meant to me for them to be there.

The following day Mom & Dad took me for a day of antiquing. And I feel like I hit the jackpot! Take a look at the chairs above. They were mine for a mere $65 each. Yeah they need to be recovered but is a project I'll be tackling soon. They are good quality made chairs and just need to be updated a bit. More to come later on how they are transforming our living area.

I also nabbed these beauties for $16, a pair of brass quail. They will help add to our bedroom decor on the bookshelves I refinished.

My final find for that day were these pheasants. Another set of brass birds for our bedroom decor, and for only $14!

The following day we continued onward to shoot a round of sporting clays, 100 rounds to be exact. This was only my second time to go shooting, so needless to say I was sore for about 2 days from this excursion.

My mom is my best friend, and we have tons of fun together whether we are shooting, eating, drinking, shopping, or what have you.

And what I else can I say about this? My life would not be complete without this man. He not only supports me on all levels in life but he too is my best friend.

A birthday for the record books by far! I hope all of my friends who turn 30 this year have a great birthday to remember too!

Christmas Recap

I realized I never shared our christmas here yet. So without further ado here were go!

I just love how I have sago palms and christmas wreaths I made on our front porch. Have I told you lately how much I love living at the beach! I am still on the search for a bigger front door rug by the way, both seasonal and everyday ones.

We rearranged our dining area to accommodate the tree this year. It went nicely. The only thing that irked a perfectionist like me was the chandelier placement.

For actual Christmas Eve and Christmas day we headed northward into Alabama to spend with our extended families. We loaded the mini horse up in the back of the car so while our little affenpinscher road in my lap, the great dane rested his head on my shoulder from the back seat during the trip up and back.

So you must have heard by now that the Southeast has gotten lots of snow and ice this year. We were not fully spared while in Alabama, 2 days of snow. Fortunately nothing really stuck while we were there. And did I mention our Affenpinscher Bandit was not even bothered by it? Werid for a dog that hates to get his feet wet.

Christmas Eve was no disappointment for all the kids on the Vaughn side. As you can see the tree was throwing up presents from all sides.

Hope you all a wonderful Christmas!
